Community Statement

I consider myself an advocate for technology advancement and support the idea of the use of technology within our community. Having explored the many paths that technology embodies to make it current, I was mostly interested in the process of making it safe. The idea of having a strong protection program to secure sensitive information within a platform inspired me to join the cyber security career.

Society is using past networking business models and applying them to modern technology, but these need a safeguard to not be stolen or hacked by other systems. Everything is shared now by these programs, and they need a safe system to uphold sensitive information. For instance, the armed forces use special programs to communicate and develop missions. These should never be intervened by any other potential programmers. That is why now a day it is not only a battle war, but a network war. Hackers can potentially ruin any type of investigation. The most important element is security. This practice can be applied to many aspects of our community from small personal businesses to the most prestigious companies. Network security evolves daily with better understanding of firm programs to protect and assess these companies and I want to be part of that team one day.

At the young age of fourteen I was introduced to this career by my mother. She instructed me on how important security is, ideally in life and in the workforce. She worked for Samsung, coaching employees as the head of the security team. My interest began when I joined her for a day at work and got to be present in her lecture. The one instance that made me certain this was my career path was when my phone was hacked. It gave me firsthand experience as to how important this matter is and how I want to contribute one day to make a better solution for this issue. I have built up knowledge over these years about network security from my mother and my current studies at the University of Advancing Technologies.

If I continue to stay in the U.S. with my professional career, I hope to join the security team at Samsung or Microsoft. It would be an honor to work for such prestigious companies. This would allow me to introduce projects that would revolve around our communities, I would want to give lectures just like my mother did. Introduce them to the efficiency of technology and help them develop better opportunities for themselves. My mother always highlighted that network security would dominate the world in the future and I wish to continue her legacy in sharing this. Although cyber security is not such a well-known major, I would like to teach them how it can affect the world and how to defend it against potential threats.
